When Brody runs inside to get a condom, my nerves kick into overdrive. What had I been thinking when I suggested we have sex outdoors? It’s way too soon to be intimate with him at all––let alone outside. I barely even know him. What if someone sees or hears us?

The worries swirl around my brain, tempting me to run away and never look back. But something stops me. This time, I don’t think my intuitive nudge to be brave has anything to do with Maddie. Instead, it’s all about my intense feelings for Brody.

I may not know the man well, but I know enough to realize that he’s smart, generous, caring, thoughtful, handsome, and funny. And that body… The man is irresistibly sexy, so why should I try to fight my desire for him? I’m a grown woman, and I have every right to enjoy myself in any way I see fit.

For once in my life, I long to be brave and trust my gut. My intuition is telling me that Brody is worth risking my heart for, so I decide to listen.

When he returns to the outdoor deck, I’m unable to keep from voicing my biggest fear. “What if your neighbors see or hear us?”

“Several of the neighboring houses are vacant vacation homes, but everyone is asleep in the ones that are occupied,” he assures me as he sets the foil condom packet on the wide ledge of the deck’s railing.

I look from side to side. Sure enough, the nearby houses are completely dark and silent.

“Besides, if we lie down on one of these lounge chairs, the sidewalls will block us from view,” he reassures me.

“But what if someone walks along the beach?” I ask, splaying my hand toward the thick glass partition that gives us an unobscured view of the beach and does nothing to hide us from being seen.

“There’s no one out there,” Brody says. His expression turns solemn when he adds, “But if you’re having second thoughts, we don’t have to do this.”

“No!” I say a bit too vehemently. Softening my tone, I add, “I want to be with you. I’m just nervous.”

“I want to be with you, too. So much.” He breathes out the words before lowering his lips to mine.

His passionate kiss bolsters my confidence. Suddenly, all that matters is being with Brody. When his hands snake up the hem of my long T-shirt, he lets out a lusty moan.

Pulling back slightly, he says, “All I could think about at dinner was you being bare underneath that sexy little dress, and now I find out that you’re naked under your nightshirt. You’re going to be the death of me, woman.”

I chuckle, loving how sexy and desirable he makes me feel.

The charged air between us practically crackles with anticipation as we grin at each other.

Reaching out my hand, I lightly trail my fingers along his wide shoulder, then down his chest. He seems perfectly content to let me take my time exploring him. My index finger circles one of his nipples.
